The State of Ohio requires that all its EDI customers have a Trading Partner Agreement (TPA) on file as a prerequisite for participating in the EDI program. The State has developed a "model" agreement for use by all state agencies. Most changes will be made in the Transaction Agreement. The State of Ohio Trading Partner Agreement follows. This agreement is similar to most agreements in the industry. It was adapted from the model agreement developed and published by the American Bar Association. Transaction Agreements are State of Ohio specific. Purpose The Trading Partner Agreement contains the standard terms and conditions to do business with the State. It also includes some additional terms and conditions that are unique to EDI communications. The TPA serves as a vehicle for conveying and agreeing upon standard terms and conditions that were previously traded via paper documents or tape. Issues unique to EDI (e.g., standards, transmission costs, security, garbled transmissions, etc.) are addressed in the TPA.
